Maintenance Dredging I, LLC is seeking experienced Dredge Engineer to perform essential duties aboard its dredges.


Responsibilities (not an inclusive list)
  • Operate main propulsion engines, stopping, starting and controlling speeds
  • Inspect and adjusts engines
  • Operates generating plaint, air compressor, water and fuel pumps; charges batteries
  • Maintains engine room equipment and it's cleanliness
  • Receives and stores advises supervisor of supply levels
  • Checks all engines for water and oil
  • Checks water pumps for proper operation and repair as needed
  • Continually monitor gauges and information panels on pumps. engines, winches, hydraulic lines, valves and electrical equipment
  • Replace packing in pumps on the dredge as well as the drive shafts in all dredge tenders
  • Maintain sheaves, pulleys, and bearings with grease or oil as needed
  • Track inventory of oils, grease, belts, starters, alternators, and filters and report specific needs to captain or project manager
  • Clean and maintain all tools
  • Use chain falls, come-alongs, hand tools, and power tools safely. Supervise all other crew members use of said tools and ensure that tools are returned to their storage areas
  • Routinely clean out the dredge's bilge and keep the hull pumped out
  • Regularly update engine room logs and confer with leverman engineers on developing patters and upcoming maintenance needs
  • Replace broken hydraulic hoses, pumps, starters, winches and motors
  • Instruct welders and fitters on fabrication needs for repairs
  • Remove debris and trash from the dredge's pumps, sea chest screens, and plate coolers
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • TWIC Card
  • Pass Drug Screen (pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, etc.)
  • Pass Physical
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to transport self to job site
  • Commitment to work safety 
  • 1+ years of Maritime engine room experience on vessels power by internal combustion inboard engine or one year of operator, mate, or deckhand in dredging operations
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds
